A perfect remake
People always ask me what my favorite projects are? They assume it’s the big influencer/celebrity content but no it’s the passion projects like this. These projects where I bring together creatives that I respect in spaces that i’ve scouted/stalked for months. I created a Pinterest board for this project and shared with women I knew would see the vision and help bring it to life. When creating projects like this perfection isn’t the goal, I am only trying to make my vison real. Each creative adds there own touch and everything is built from there.
Being a photographer that only works with Black Women I had to be intentional with my Women’s History Month content. Black history month was the easy move for people to push their “black” focused content but i purposely skipped it.
Can I give you a history lesson real quick? When women were marching back in the day to get their right to vote and just to be seen as equals to their male counterparts. Black women weren’t exactly apart of this conversation becuase we had to be black first and march for our skin color. White women had an agenda and thought including us would just prolong their fight. Our problems have so many layers and we have pushed to the side for so long with broken promises.
Watching different documentaries and reading think pieces about the history of women inspired me to focus my efforts on Women’s History Month. Black history month is a beautiful thing but we are so beyond that, I show up in this skin everyday taking up all the space. The other layer is being a woman and how I show up for myself and others in that role.
“WOMEN, I HOPE YOU KNOW HOW ESSENTIAL YOU REALLY ARE. KEEP THAT CROWN ON.”

Zoe Kravitz + Solange are two creative women that have shaped the culture from their style to projects they have been involved in. I am beyond inspired by these two women and wanted to give them their flowers with this recreation. Everything was shot in a Peerspace located in Brooklyn, New York
The women that helped bring this to life are Kelsey, Danae + Dom
We worked our way around this apartment and gave the vision the space to grow + evolve.
I may have put together the Pinterest board but I wasn’t married to the outcome because I know things can grow beyond the original concept. There was power in these shots and videos created because we all were naturally moving with he flow and following the light. Some shots standing directly in it and letting the beams direct the moment and others facing it and giving a softer look.
We all made something powerful and I am happy my camera led me here.
