Date: Sunday, September 20
Time: 10am - 1pm
Getting in front of the camera is an art form. And here's what I need you to know - you existing is just a beautiful thing. The art of being is truly enough.
A few years ago, I started doing these self-portraits and it became this amazing exercise in falling in love with myself. I was studying myself the same way I study my clients, looking at myself through the lens the way I do for the women in my "Black Women Being" series. And it was beyond interesting.
I want to help you do the same.
In this 3-hour workshop, we're going to get you comfortable in front of the camera. I'm teaching you how to film on your phone, how to use a camera, how to set yourself up. But really, we're practicing the art of witnessing yourself - of seeing that just being is enough.
Workshop Schedule
10:00–10:20 — Welcome + Grounding
Opening circle, intros, and setting intentions for the day. Talk through what "romanticizing your life" actually means as a practice, not just an aesthetic.
10:20–11:00 — The Art of Noticing
Teach the eye behind the lens — light, texture, small everyday moments worth capturing. This is the mindset shift block before anyone touches a phone or camera.
11:00–11:45 — Live Shoot Block
Hands-on practice time. Attendees shoot their own "ordinary moments" (coffee, getting dressed, their space) using what they just learned. You can float in and give real-time feedback.
11:45–12:00 — Break
12:00–12:30 — Editing + Storytelling
Light editing walkthrough (phone-friendly tools/presets) and how to sequence images into a visual story, not just single pretty shots.
12:30–1:00 — Share Circle + Closing
Attendees share a favorite image or moment from the day. Close with a soft CTA
